Manchester City have reportedly taken a big step towards signing Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
City have been strongly linked with Donnarumma over the past few weeks, after it was revealed that the Italian will be leaving PSG this summer.
Pep Guardiola’s current first-choice shot stopper, James Trafford, made a huge mistake against Tottenham on Saturday (23 August) as he gifted the North London side a goal.
Trafford gave the ball away inside his own box, and Joao Palhinha made him pay for the error, scoring Spurs’ second of the afternoon as they secured a shock 2-0 win at the Etihad.

Trafford’s disappointing performance in just the second Premier League matchweek of the season has increased the pressure on his shoulders and may lead to him being dropped by Guardiola.
It seems that Man City have already seen enough from their summer signing, as they are now advancing a move to add another goalkeeper to their ranks.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Donnarumma has agreed personal terms with the Manchester club over a potential switch to the Etihad, with negotiations between the two clubs underway.

However, the deal still depends on whether Ederson leaves City this summer.
and will not be completed unless the Brazilian’s exit is confirmed.
Meanwhile, Manuel Akanji could turn down the opportunity to move to Galatasaray as he would prefer to remain at Man City beyond the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown claims that City are aiming to accelerate player sales after Guardiola made clear his demands to trim his squad.
However, Akanji is considered unlikely to be among those players as he still has a strong role to play as a key figure in Guardiola’s defensive line.
Given the injury issues of the likes of John Stones and City’s defensive problems, the Switzerland international remains an important squad player at the Etihad.
